Within the framework of the launching ceremony of the “Humanitarian Month” 2026 with the theme “80 Years – A Journey of Compassion for the Community,” on May 7th, the Dong Nai City Red Cross Society, in coordination with the Vietnam Food Bank Network, launched the Dong Nai Food Bank, contributing to strengthening the connection of social resources and assisting vulnerable people in a sustainable manner.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Hung, Standing Committee Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and Chairman of the Dong Nai City Red Cross Society, in the context of the country continuing to promote innovation in the growth model, reorganize the organizational structure, and improve governance efficiency, social welfare solutions in the direction of linking and sharing resources are increasingly emphasized. The implementation of the Dong Nai Food Bank is considered a step in line with this trend, contributing to improving the efficiency of using social resources and better meeting the needs of supporting vulnerable groups.

“The launch of the Dong Nai Food Bank is a concrete step in realizing the Association’s core role in humanitarian work, while also innovating the methods of mobilizing and coordinating social resources. This model contributes to strengthening connections between organizations, businesses, and the community, thereby improving the effectiveness of assistance to vulnerable groups, aiming to build a modern, transparent, and sustainable social security ecosystem,” Mr. Nguyen Tan Hung emphasized.

Accordingly, Food Bank Dong Nai is a community project aimed at sustainable development, in which food receiving, coordination, and distribution activities are implemented synchronously to support disadvantaged groups, while contributing to minimizing waste in the supply chain.

In terms of operational process, the model is implemented in a closed chain: receiving food from businesses, manufacturers, distribution systems, and philanthropists; organizing sorting, quality control, and preservation according to appropriate standards; and then coordinating and distributing it to the correct beneficiaries.

The entire process is carried out according to the principles of transparency, control, and monitoring, ensuring efficient resource utilization and food safety.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khoi expects Food Bank Dong Nai to become a center for connecting resources in the Southeast region of Vietnam.

“We expect Food Bank Dong Nai to become a resource connection center in the Southeast region – where businesses, manufacturers, distribution systems, and social organizations can join hands to share. The model goes beyond just donating; it aims to build a circular food ecosystem where surplus resources are effectively redistributed to the right recipients, thereby increasing social value and minimizing waste throughout the supply chain,” Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khoi further shared.

On this occasion, the organizing committee also implemented many activities in response to the Humanitarian Month, such as awarding 30 scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds; supporting 20 needy families; and organizing a “Humanitarian Market” serving approximately 200 people in the area.

At the event, the Vietnam Food Bank Network provided 120 million VND in resources to support humanitarian activities in Dong Nai province.
