On March 2, 2024, Food Bank Vietnam collaborated with Jardine Matheson Vietnam Group to implement a Food Waste Reduction activity, aiming at green development in the annual Family Sports Day program: Jardines Familympic 2024 with the theme “For The Love Of Sports”.

At the event, Food Bank Vietnam carried out activities to collect nutritious food within the framework of the Sports Day to share with disadvantaged groups in the area, addressing the issue of food waste at the Sports Day specifically and nationwide events in general.

The program attracted nearly 1000 participants, including employees and their relatives from Jardine Matheson Group’s member companies, including Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Guardian, Insee, REE Corporation, Hongkong Land, Schindler, Maxim’s, and KFC. The program also promoted and conveyed the message “Sports unites for a green planet” to encourage everyone to participate. With small actions such as encouraging all participants to use personal water bottles to minimize single-use plastic waste, reducing food and drink waste during the program, and coordinating with Insee Ecocycle to provide communication solutions, education, and guidance on collecting, processing hazardous waste and household waste generated during the program.

With the plan in 2024, “preserving a green, clean, and healthy earth” – the goal of Food Bank Vietnam, by accompanying all festivals, projects, and programs related to food and green development nationwide. Advocating and mobilizing people to increase awareness and take simple actions: using food sources just enough, recycling excess food sources, limiting the use of single-use waste, and joining hands to spread the journey of “greening” the earth from the simple awareness and actions of each individual and collective.

This is also a positive sign in the goal of green and sustainable development of Food Bank Vietnam and its partners in 2024; reducing CO2 emissions, saving energy, limiting plastic waste, and developing supply value chains in businesses.
